Occupying an entire floor of this highly stylised 1960’s building, this start-up film post-production house wanted its space to reinforce the creative output of its youthful, energetic team. As the only floor in the building with an outdoor terrace, there was additional potential for a highly unusual and memorable workplace with break-out spaces and client-facing amenities appropriate to this creative industry.

Inspired by the linear process that transforms a raw film reel into a TV commercial, our designers introduced a ‘film-factory loop’ room layout within the elongated octagon floor plan. The sequence of production steps is linked along a timber-floored racetrack corridor that, counter-intuitively, engages the internal structural columns along the way. The designers transformed these otherwise obstructive elements into ‘lanterns’, which not only serve as markers along the journey, but also showcase the graphic output of the owner’s business. At the end, a fully-fitted cinema captures their clients’ imagination as the finished product is brought to life on screen.

Architectural expression depicts the rich dialogue between the integrated and highly sophisticated technology inherent to this business, set against the wish for a creative, loft-like atmosphere where irregular working hours define a culture of hip and stylish cooperation.
