Fubon Bank - Hong Kong Headquarters

Central Tower , Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong, 2006

This project brought together our client's recently merged businesses in Taipei and Hong Kong, integrating the operations of three distinct business cultures beneath a single roof. The bank relocated certain existing Hong Kong functions, together with a new trading floor and investment banking arm, into 14,000 square feet across two floors of a Central District office tower.

The design challenges arose from the need to respect the diverse business functionality requirements of each entity, whilst creating a refreshed, unified corporate image that unifies them. Open workstations and trading floor layouts contrasted against the need for more traditional enclosed offices of varying sizes accommodating a range of management level postings. Acoustic separation was a key consideration, as was transparency and communication within operational groupings.

Use of walnut timber veneers, articulated in a decidedly modern manner, imbues warmth and stability within a frameless glazed wall setting. Detailing is crisp and straightforward, saving on costs whilst also mediating amongst several business group customer expectations. An 18-person videoconferencing boardroom occupies a pivotal bay window location, and is fitted with specially designed lighting to suit a variety of uses.
